Author Bret Easton Ellis talks to Scotland on Sunday.
"I understood why American Psycho sells a lot of copies," says Ellis. "It is a fast-paced, very funny, very scary book.
"Something I regretted was the violence," he confesses, cringing a bit. "I was a punky, nihilistic kid when I wrote those scenes. They came out effortlessly. The violence was really hardcore and I had to steel myself to read them. I got why people were outraged. Would I do it differently now? I can't do that."
