7 Down, 45 To Go (52 Books, 52 Weeks)

Pyongyang: A Journey in North Korea is the story of an animator who spends several months in North Korea. This graphic novel offers outsiders a rare glimpse into the lives of North Korean citizens as well as expatriate workers in the country. The monochromatic, simple drawings match well with Guy Delisle's sharp wit and keen observations about the country, its citizens, and its ever-present politics of isolation. My favorite travelogues manage to give insight into an area I am unfamiliar with, and this book provides that and more.

My next book is Can't Stop, Won't Stop: A History of the Hip Hop Generation, by Jeff Chang.
