This Week's Interesting DVD Releases
Ken Burns' World War II documentary The War arrives on DVD tomorrow, and since I missed the series on its first run (my wife is averse to war documentaries and my Tivo has gone to PVR heaven), the box set is at the top of my shopping list.
Other television DVDs out this week include part two of the third season of Entourage, the first season of James Woods in Shark, and my favorite guilty television pleasure of the year, the first season of I Love New York. I have several friends who would love the Star Trek: The Next Generation complete series box set. Largehearted Boy contributors Patton Oswalt and Eugene Mirman contribute to The Comedians of Comedy: Live at the Troubador.
Music DVDs worth noting include two devoted to the music of seminal R&B label, Stax Records, Stax/Volt Live in Norway 1967 and Respect Yourself: The Stax Records Story.Other noteworthy releases include the Ramones live video compilation Ramones: It's Alive 1974-1996 and David Byrne: Live From Austin Texas.
