This Week's Interesting DVD Releases (April 15th, 2008)
The film Juno hits stores tomorrow, complete with its lovely Kimya Dawson-laden soundtrack. Before the Devil Knows You're Dead stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Albert Finney, and Marisa Tomei, and has received glowing reviews from friends and in press, so I'll be seeking it out. The Criterion Collection releases Allen Baron's low budget masterpiece, Blast of Silence.
My favorite way to watch episodic television is to pick up the DVD and watch at my leisure, and I'll be doing exactly that with the fourth season of Melrose Place and American Dad, Volume 3.
The Pied Piper of Hutzovina follows Gogol Bordello frontman Eugene Hutz on a trip back to the Ukraine in an entertaining (and unique) documentary.
Music releases are slim, but The Swell Season Live From The Artists Den features Glen Hansard of the Frames and Marketa Irglova reprising songs from the film Once. Daniel Lanois: Here Is What Is captures the creation of the singer-songwriter's latest album.
