This Week's Interesting DVD Releases (May 27th, 2008)
All five seasons (plus specials) of Absolutely Fabulous have been collected in one release, the aptly titled Absolutely Fabulous - Absolutely Everything, and this new release heads up my weekly DVD shopping list. Something about having almost 20 hours of AbFab at my disposal makes me very, very happy. The only other television release I am considering is one of my guilty pleasures, the sixth season of Degrassi The Next Generation.
Among theatrical releases, the Criterion Collection's release of the classic The Thief of Bagdad is on my list, and I'll be looking for a hot deal on the Dario Argento Box Set, a collection of 5 films by the Italian horror director.
Several documentaries are worth a look, including the politically-minded FRONTLINE: Bush's War and Darfur Now. What Would Jesus Buy?'s Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping are personal favorites of mine, I can't recommend his film enough.
