This Week's Interesting DVD Releases (July 22nd, 2008)
I have only seen a couple of episodes of the British comedy series Spaced, but those few shows have had me eagerly awaiting the series to be released on DVD. Tomorrow the complete series is released, including deleted scenes, interviews (including fans of the show Kevin Smith, Patton Oswalt, Quentin Taratinto, and Matt Stone) and much more.
Along with Spaced, I am tempted by the Andre Techine Boxset, a four film set by the French director, as well as the Criterion Collection's releases of Danish filmmaker Carl Theodor Dreyer's classic Vampyr and Akira Kurosawa's High and Low.
Daft Punk's Electroma and a live Mudhoney performance, Live at El Sol head up the music DVDs released this week.
Documentaries out this week include 21 Up: South Africa Mandela's Children, a film that captures children of South Africa from the ages of 7 through 21, and The Making of An Army which examines the United States' role in building up the Iraqi army.
