This Week's Interesting DVD Releases (May 12th, 2009)
Liam Neeson's action film Taken and the vampire/werewolf flick Underworld: Rise of the Lycans are the two biggest films released on DVD this week.
If the new Star Trek movie whetted your appetite, The Best of Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Best of Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: Motion Picture Trilogy, and the Blu-ray Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection (which includes The Motion Picture, The Wrath of Kahn, The Search for Spock, The Voyage Home, The Final Frontier, and The Undiscovered Country along with a bonus disc) are all in stores tomorrow.
John Huston's film adaptation of Flannery O'Connor's novel Wise Blood is the week's highlight for me, thanks to the Criterion Collection.
Television releases are slim this week, but the first season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: The Complete First Season is available in Blu-ray format tomorrow as well as the short-lived (only 8 episodes, including one that never aired) The Dana Carvey Show, which co-starred The Office's Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert.
Clint Eastwood's spaghetti western classic The Good, the Bad and the Ugly arrives in Blu-ray format tomorrow, along with the dramas Fargo, and the James Bond films Licence to Kill and The Man with the Golden Gun.
