This Week's Interesting DVD Releases (August 4th, 2009)

The second season of Flight of the Conchords is out tomorrow. As much as I enjoyed the first season, I am looking forward to this continuation of the New Zealand duo's comedic Big Apple adventures.

Other television DVDs in stores tomorrow include season three of the Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and the fifth season of Project Runway.

Theatrical films out this week include Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx in The Soloist and Gomorrah, a striking Italian film about mob war in Naples.

Against my better judgment, I will probably rent a copy of The Mysteries of Pittsburgh. Based on one of my favorite novels, I am hoping the film adaptation stands on its own merits without the inevitable comparisons to the book.

Beef up your Blu-ray library this week with Big Trouble in Little China, The Italian Job, My Cousin Vinny, Sling Blade, and The Waterboy.
