This Week's Interesting Music Releases (October 20th, 2009)
This week may provide the greatest variety of music releases all year. From Sufjan Stevens' debut classical work, The BQE to Jay Farrar and Benjamin Gibbard's collaborative effort One Fast Move or I'm Gone: Music From Kerouac's Big Sur to Things About Comin' My Way - A Tribute to The Mississippi Sheiks, the week's release list is filled with variety.
The week is deep in quality releases, from what I have already heard I can strongly recommend The Atlas Sound's Logos, Doveman's The Conformist, El Perro Del Mar's Love Is Not Pop, Espers' III, Maps' Turning the Mind, Richmond Fontaine's Winnemucca, and especially Bear in Heaven's Beast Rest Forth Mouth.
For the more literary-minded, Paul Bowles' Baptism Of Solitude, a collection of Bowles' readings set to ambient landscapes by Bill Laswell, has been reissued on CD.
A remastered edition of Pylon's indie classic Chomp arrives this week with bonus tracks. Other reissues of note include two remastered Bauhaus albums, In the Flat Field (remastered with bonus CD) and Mask (each with a disc of bonus material) and the Get Up Kids' Four Minute Mile and Red Letter Day/Woodson.
