11 Down, 41 To Go "Lit" (52 Books, 52 Weeks)
Last year Mary Karr's Lit drew critical raves, landing on several year-end "best of 2009" lists, and for good reason.
Lit lives up to its title, it is a literate memoir that manages a conversational and often surprisingly humorous tone while Karr shares the fifty-plus years of her personal history. Karr weaves together her painful childhood, troubled marriage, alcoholism, mental health issues, and eventual conversion to Catholicism into a mesmerizing glimpse into this writer's fascinating life.
My next book is Momofuku, by David Chang and Peter Meehan.
