WORD is an independent neighborhood bookstore in Greenpoint, the northernmost neighborhood of Brooklyn, that celebrated its third anniversary this March. Our primary goal is to be whatever our community needs us to be, which currently means carrying a lot of paperback fiction (especially classics), cookbooks, board books, and absurdly cute cards and stationery. In addition, we're fiends for a good event, from the classic author reading and Q&A to potlucks and a basketball league (and anything set in a bar). We're a small operation, just 1000 square feet and four people, but we read too much, so it all works out. If a weekly dose of WORD here isn't enough for you, follow us on Twitter: @wordbrooklyn.
Brown Rabbit In The City
by Natalie Russell
A new gorgeous picture book from the creator of Moon Rabbit, a WORD favorite. Will be especially poignant for city-dwellers who tend to overplan when friends come to town.
Flowers In The Attic/Petals On The Wind
by V.C. Andrews
Yes, it's just as incest-y as you remember! Relive your early teens with this massive re-release with the first two books in one volume and be creeped out that you and your friends used to pass it around so avidly.
Star Wars: A Scanimation Book
by Rufus Butler Seder
Viva Vegan!: 200 Authentic and Fabulous Recipes for Latin Food Lovers
by Terry Hope Romero
This might be the only cookbook that we sold multiple copies of before it was even out! Romero is co-author of the fantastic Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar, so it's no surprise that this book is also doing well.
