This Week's Interesting DVD Releases - August 17, 2010
Of the week's film releases, I can most recommend Temple Grandin, where Claire Danes perfectly captures the spirit of the author and activist for the humane treatment of livestock.
The Conversation, my personal favorite Gene Hackman film, finally arrives on DVD tomorrow.
The Criterion Collection releases Black Orpheus and L'enfance Nue this week.
Two documentaries I have at the top of my rental queue are Citizen Architect, which profiles architect Samuel Mockbee, founder of the Rural Studio, and Four Seasons Lodge, which follows around a group of Holocaust survivors on their annual summer retreat.
Television DVDs out this week include the fourth season of Dexter as well as the fourth season of Friday Night Lights (which I am giving away in this week's LHB contest).
