This Week's Interesting Music Releases - September 14, 2010
The first big music release week since spring brings a great variety of new albums.
Lost fans will see a familiar face on Weezer's new album, Hurley, and can also pick up the final season's soundtrack.
There are so many albums worth recommending this week, these are my personal favorites: Azure Ray's reunion album Drawing Down the Moon, Blonde Redhead's Penny Sparkle, The Drums' self-titled disc, Justin Townes Earle's Harlem River Blues, Megafaun's Hertofore, The Vaselines' Sex With an X, and, of course, Superchunk's Majesty Shredding.
Add to the list Of Montreal's False Priest and Mavis Staples' You Are Not Alone (produced by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy), and you truly have a remarkable release week.
Vinyl editions from Sonic Youth (Bad Moon Rising, Sister) and the Stooges (Fun House, The Stooges) are the week's reissue highlights, along with a CD of Alex Chilton's first solo album, Like Flies on Sherbert.
