This Week's Interesting DVD Releases - February 15th, 2011
The latest Woody Allen film, You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, is in stores tomorrow.
Two Iranian films caught my eye this week. Women Without Men captures the 1953 revolution through the lives of four women. A Time For Drunken Horses, Bahman Ghobadi's feature film debut, is the story of a Kurdish family living on the Iran-Iraq border.
Documentaries are the personal highlight for me this week. Susan Sontag's only documentary, Promised Lands, and Waiting for Superman, an overview of America's ailing education system, are both high on my list.
For music fans, Lemmy: 49% Motherf**ker, 51% Son Of A Bitch chronicles the life of the Motorhead bassist and vocalist, and Secret to a Happy Endingis the new Drive-By Truckers documentary.
The television highlight is surely Dr. Who: A Christmas Carol, this past year's Dr. Who Christmas special.
Blu-ray releases this week include All the President's Men, Chaplin, Last Tango in Paris, and Network.
