This Week's Interesting Music Releases - March 29th, 2011

A big week for music releases brings new albums by the Mountain Goats, Britney Spears, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and even the Human League.

The Mountain Goats' All Eternals Deck is in stores tomorrow, and is yet another example of John Darnielle's lyrical mastery (and why I consider him to be the most talented singer-songwriter in America today).

Radiohead's King of Limbs sees its CD release tomorrow. Other new albums I can strongly recommend include Broken Bells' Meyrin Fields EP, Erland & The Carnival's Nightingale, Generationals' Actor-Caster, Obits' Moody, Standard and Poor, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart's Belong, and Those Darlins' Screws Get Loose.

The Human League has a new album out this week, Credo.

If you are looking for an introduction to jazz, Smothsonian Folkways' 6-CD box set Jazz: The Smithsonian Anthology is a great place to start.

Reissues this week include remastered editions of Pearl Jam's Vitalogy and Vs. (both with bonus tracks), Pete Yorn's Musicforthemorningafter, which includes a CD of live bonus material, and four remastered Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds albums, each with a DVD audio 5.1 stereo disc.
